About Us

Friends Of The Oaks act as a financial support group and liaison between the Moray Community and The Oaks Palliative Care Centre.

All funds raised by or bequeathed to The Friends provide medical and holistic care equipment and many little extras which make life easier for The Oaks patients.

Before a name change when the centre opened, The Friends set up the H.I.M organisation, spearheading the campaign for The Oaks Palliative Care Unit to be opened in Moray. Since the opening of the centre, The Friends changed from being a campaign group, to leading a more supportive role.

The raising of funds is crucial to the success of The Oaks and included in The Friend's aims, which are:
(1) To support the work of both the professional and voluntary services in any way that is charitable in law.
(2) To administer funds donated, bequeathed or otherwise received in the name of Friends of The Oaks Moray for the welfare of the patients of The Oaks.

All donations stay in Moray and are used entirely for the future development of The Oaks Centre.

Environment

We aim to make The Oaks patients as comfortable as possible and have successfully raised monies to enable this. We have contributed to the creation of an extension to the day roomand have purchased equipment for the health and therapy rooms.

With the generosity of our patrons and donations we have also managed to contribute £20,000 to help provide a fully equipped wetroom for our patients comfort and we purchased a vehicle with hydraulic wheelchair access, which is used daily.
